Skin Therapies
Using the internationally renowned SkinCeuticals range, our expert therapists combine science with luxury skin care, optimum skin health, holistic skin health, and beauty therapy treatments.
This beauty therapy treatment is a painless and non-invasive skin rejuvenation method that is tailored to your skin, gently removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis, improving skin texture and appearance. Fine lines and age spots will become less obvious and skin will feel softer, smoother and more youthful looking. Both Crystal and Diamond-head treatments are available.
Our signature cleansing and exfoliation is followed by an antioxidant infusion for brightening and a deeper delivery of peel. Followed by a Crystal and Diamond dermabrasion and extractions mask to replenish skin. The treatment also includes an indulgent paraffin hand treatment and facial and scalp massage.
Delivered as four consecutive treatments, four weeks apart, skin needling is used on the face and neck, our medical grade needling system uses a series of microscopic needles which cause multiple, tiny micro-punctures in the dermis. These micro-punctures stimulate growth in the skin and the production of collagen and elastin giving skin improved appearance and rejuvenation.
This beauty therapy treatment is perfect for treating aged and sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, smoker’s lines, large pores, stretch marks and scarring.
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning the latest cosmetic/skincare procedure, aimed at giving your skin a youthful glow by removing dead or damaged skin cells from the upper layer of the epidermis and fine, vellus hair from your face. It is performed with a surgical grade, exfoliating blade by a professional dermal therapist.
What can it help with?
It can help reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles as well as keep your skin look healthy and dewy. People with dull or dry skin, or sun damage, will also get good results. After dermaplaning, your skin is more receptive to treatment creams such as moisturisers or serums and dermaplaning can also help your makeup go on smoother. Finally, it helps speed up healthy skin cell production.
What happens during a dermaplaning session?
After examining your skin and talking to you about any concerns, as well as your medical history relevant to your skin (for example, a history of cold sores or eczema), Chloe, Advanced Aesthetic’s dermal therapist will use a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle to slowly remove debris and smooth out your skin’s surface. She will do this by gently dragging the blade across your skin. You shouldn’t feel any pain, but you may feel a slight tingling sensation as dead or damaged cells are removed.
How long does the treatment take?
Including the skin assessment, the procedure and follow-up advice, around 45 minutes to one hour.
Is it safe?
Dermaplaning has little risk of side effects when performed by a professional skin dermal therapist in a clinical setting.
Is there downtime?
No, but some people may find their skin is a little pink for two or three days. Your skin may also break out a bit if it has been very congested. Generally, it takes a couple of days to see the full result of the treatment.
How long do results last?
You should expect skin to look smoother and more youthful for three to four weeks.
Do I need to use any special products afterwards, or take any precautions?
Don’t exfoliate for a few days or apply Vitamin A. You also need to be careful about sun exposure. On fresh skin, harsh UV rays can cause pigmentation or blotches. Wearing a chemical-free, SPF30+ sunblock (we recommend the amazing SkinCeuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF30+ or SPF50+) is essential to helping your skin look and feel its best. Don’t go out without one, especially in the Australian summer, although be aware that UV can be extreme all year round so it’s good to apply a sunblock under your moisturiser.
Will the fine hairs on my face grow back thicker?
No. The idea that shaving makes hair thicker is a myth. Hair growth is controlled by hormones and genetics.
Can I do dermaplaning at home?
It isn’t advised. Our dermal therapists use a surgical grade blade that produces better results and the clinical setting reduces the risk of infection or pain.
